Traveling around Honolulu

As with most cities Taxis/cabs are plentiful and cheap. The vast majority of hotels and resorts are only 2-3 streets from the beach and Kalakaua Avenue and are a flat, easy walk. Hotels can arrange shuttles and tours for you. Better value can be had by visiting tour operators on Kalakaua Avenue.
The Waikiki Trolley is a cheap and fun way to see the sights of Honolulu. Hire Car companies operate from most of the Kalakaua Avenue resorts should you wish to drive yourself around the island and visit sites such as the North Shore and Waimea Bay areas.
Domestic flights operate from Honolulu to the other destinations that make up the Hawaiian Islands such as Maui, Hawaii – The Big Island, Lanai, Kauai

Honolulu Sites and Attractions

Diamond Head Crater –  One of Oahu’s most visited destinations, enjoy a leisurely hike to the top of the extinct volcano crater for amazing views of the Waikiki and Honolulu coast and hinterland areas. See picture above for actual view from the top of the crater.
Pearl Harbor – The USS Arizona Memorial commemorates the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and the Battleship Missouri symbolizes the end of WWII. Tours are available daily. Tip – visit early before the crowds and tour buses arrive to take in this historic site
Hanauma Bay – Great snorkelling and beach just 25 mins from Waikiki Beach. Shuttles are available from most tour companies or check with you resort for transport options.
Waikiki Beach – The world-famous neighbourhood of Waikiki was once a playground for Hawaiian royalty. Known in Hawaiian as “spouting waters,” both locals and tourist alike love the white sand beach and calm waters. Perfect for stand up paddle boarding, floating around in an inflatable tube or swimming.
