Yulara Sites and Things to Do
Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park – Rising out of the surrounding Central Australian desert, Uluru/Ayers Rock and Kata Tjuta/The Olgas dominate the landscape. The spectacular red rocks and domes are millions upon millions of years old. The national park expands across more than 327,000 acres and contains these two, worldwide iconic rock formations. Walking around the base of Uluru you will see expansive rock faces of sandstone rise up to 348m above the red desert sand. Kata Tjuta/The Olga’s are often underestimated but its 36 domed heads are equally, if not more impressive in our opinion, to that of Uluru. Seeing both of these sites offers an experience in the true cultural and scared significance of this red land.
Yulara Township – Though in a remote desert, a nearby town Yulara has been built to provide accommodation, restaurants, an IGA supermarket, petrol and other essential services. The Ayers Rock Resort is contained within Yulara and is home to around 1200 staff hailing from local nearby towns, other Australian states and all over the world.
Ayers Rock Helicopter tours – Without a doubt the best way to see Uluru and Kata Tjuta is by helicopter. Discover a whole new perspective of this great land by air and take in 360 degree views. Ayers Rock Helicopters fly on demand every day of the year, from sunrise to sunset and offer flights from 15 minute Uluru only scenic flights up to full day charters to Kings Canyon and beyond. Clever Voyage booked and highly recommend the 30-min aerial flight experience taking in the magnificent views of Uluru, Kata Tjuta and red desert as far as the eye can see. The tour includes pick up and drop off from your accommodation and is around 1.5 hours total from pick up to drop off. Their helicopters offer full opening rear windows making for spectacular photo opportunities!
Outback Cycling – For a great adventure on two wheels, rent a bike and ride the 15km pathway right around the base of Uluru for a easy way to get up close to this amazing sandstone rock at your own pace.
Uluru Camel Tours – Ride high above the desert surrounds and explore this region just as the early explorers did. Camel tours depart 5 times daily.
Skydive Uluru – After an adrenalin rush? This will get your pulse racing combined with a free fall and the spectacular 360 degree views.
Uluru Motorcycle tours – Want to try something different? Join a fun filled adventure on the back of a Harley Davidson or a 3 wheeler trike and experience the beauty of Uluru and Kata Tjuta with the wind in your face.
